2024 Parade Registration Information

All applications must include a detailed plan or diagram for review including an estimate of dimensions in order to be considered. These details will be used to place entrants in the parade lineup. If your entry has no float component, a description may be sufficient. Provide a description of your proposed float or performance. Please be as specific as possible. Attach additional documentation if needed.
The optimum float size is 6’x10’. Floats should not exceed 10 feet in width. (Add-ons that are installed in the staging area and removed at the conclusion of the parade, which result in the float exceeding 10 feet in width only while on the parade route, will be accepted.) Including tow unit, floats must not exceed 50 feet in length. No entries can exceed 12 feet in height. Groups may have up to 50 people. Marching bands may have up to 125 members.:

The undersigned, in consideration of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Commission and City of Gainesville providing us with space for the display, promotion and/or sale of our various services, products, goods and other valuable wares during their event, do hereby release the Martin Luther King, Jr., Commission of Florida, Inc., and the City of Gainesville and any of their employees, directors or volunteers from any liability for the loss or damage of product, personal injury or property damage. Further, I acknowledge full responsibility for all my activities at the event and for those assisting me and I agree to defend, hold harmless and indemnify the Martin Luther King, Jr., Commission of Florida, Inc. and the City of Gainesville for any damages, attorney’s fees, or costs of any legal action resulting from any claims in which they, their members, employees, agents or volunteers are made parties defendant. This release and indemnity agreement applies for the duration of the event as scheduled and to any claims made within the applicable statute of limitations for a loss occurring during that time period.
As the appointed representative of the above-named entity, I fully understand and agree that my participation in the Martin Luther King, Jr., Commission of Florida, Inc., MLK National Holiday Parade is voluntary and at my own risk. I hereby certify that there exists full liability and property damage and personal injury insurance on the float or vehicle or being entered in the parade. I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Martin Luther King, Jr., Commission of Florida, Inc., and the City of Gainesville for any personal injury or property damage which I, my float/vehicle or passengers may cause in any way or which may be occasioned to me, my passengers or to my float/vehicle as a result of my parade participation. We understand and agree that the Martin Luther King, Jr., Commission of Florida, Inc. has the right to remove any entry from the parade for any inappropriate display or behavior by any participant and, upon signing, agree to abide by all rules and conditions of participation. Also, I hereby grant full consent to the co-producers for the free use of my picture or name in any broadcast, telecast or other account of the events of the parade.
