Edna M. Hart Keeper of the Dream Scholarship

An advocate of education and a charter member of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Commission of Florida, Edna M. Hart was a teacher and reading specialist in several schools of Alachua County, Florida for over 40 years.

In 1949, she was the first woman of color to be awarded a Masters degree in Alachua County.

She has impressed, inspired and impacted the lives of scores of students over four decades. She was a woman of simple goals. She wanted to be a helper believing that “If I can help somebody along the way then my living would not be in vain”.

 

Completed application must be submitted by Nov. 1 annually.
